Travel Moment - Egypt

CAIRO, EGYPT

This photo was taken as we wandered the back streets of Cairo. What I really love about the shot is that Cairo has so much incredible history and so many mind-blowing sights that you don’t often see photos of local families living ten streets back from the pyramids.

Having explored the main sights, we decided to go wandering the back streets and to our delight swarms of local kids wanted to say hi. This photo is just a real travel moment, such beautiful, happy faces wanting to say hello.

To our further delight, one guy asked us into his house for a cuppa. He insisted that we have our tea on the third floor balcony because it had the best view. As we walked out on the balcony the view opened up to show us the expanse of the Sahara, the Sphinx and the three pyramids. I guess the saying ‘location, location, location’ applies all over the globe!

Interesting Cairo fact...

The Great Pyramid of Giza, the largest of the three famous pyramids in Cairo, is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence.
